Last updated: October 14, 2026

Lauren Kay LLC ("Lauren Kay Writes," "we," "us," or "our") runs www.laurenkaywrites.com and provides editorial services for writers, including matching writers with editors on our team. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using our website or services, you agree to this policy.

Who we are

Lauren Kay LLC, 1085 Fulton Street, Unit #209, Brooklyn, NY 11238. Email: lauren@laurenkaywrites.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a form or application, sign up for our newsletter, book or reschedule a consultation, or email us, we collect what you provide. This may include your name, email address, phone number, details about your writing project, your goals, your availability, and the content of your messages. Payments are handled by our payment processors, and we do not store full card numbers.

Information from editors on our team. We collect editors' names, contact details, and availability so we can schedule consultations. If an editor opts in, we also collect a mobile number for scheduling text messages.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we and our service providers collect usage data, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and the site that referred you. We do this using cookies and similar technologies, as described in our Cookie Policy.

How we use your information

We use personal information to: provide our services, including recommending editors and scheduling, confirming, and rescheduling consultations; respond to your questions; send our newsletter if you signed up (you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email); send scheduling text messages to editors who have opted in; understand how our website is used and measure our advertising; and comply with the law, prevent fraud, and protect our rights.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

With editors on our team, when needed to recommend an editor or set up a consultation (for example, a writer's name, contact details, and project information).

With service providers who help us run our business, under their own privacy terms. These include Squarespace (website hosting and forms), Kit, formerly ConvertKit (newsletter), Google Workspace (email, calendar, and file storage and backups), Zoom (video consultations), Zapier (connecting our tools), monday.com (project and client tracking), Slack (internal team communication), Twilio (text messages to editors), Anthropic (AI tools that help our team sort and draft scheduling emails), and Meta and TikTok (advertising measurement).

For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or others; and in a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of our business.

With your consent, in any other case.

Text messages (SMS)

We send text messages only to editors on our team who have opted in to receive consultation scheduling notifications. We collect a mobile number only when an editor gives it to us for this purpose. Mobile numbers and text messaging opt-in consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Full terms are in the Text Messaging section of our Terms of Use.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including to provide our services and keep business, tax, and legal records. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time, control cookies through your browser settings (see our Cookie Policy), and opt out of text messages by replying STOP.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to access, correct, delete, or give you a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of the use of your information for targeted advertising. To make a request, email lauren@laurenkaywrites.com. We may need to verify your identity, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your information because it is necessary to provide services you request, because you consented (which you can withdraw at any time), to meet legal obligations, or for our legitimate interests in running and improving our business. You may also object to or restrict our processing and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We are based in the United States, so your information will be processed there.

Children

Our website and services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
